EFI Church News

While attending a leadership class at Harvest Church (Pastor Tad Tankard), I felt the Lord speaking to me to start a Bible study for those who were “undesirables” in the eyes of the “religious sect” of the local community. My wife and I prayed about this for 30 days and we spoke to Pastor Tankard. His response to what we believe God was calling us to do was, “if the fish are jumping out of the water, you need to get a boat and go fishing.” The next week we started a Bible study in our barn. We had six people show up that were un-churched and did not have a relationship with Jesus. We cooked a meal each week and served the participants before each Bible study.

The group grew larger over the next few weeks and we had to come inside of our home because it was too hot in the barn. We had 14 people sitting around our living room and the presence of the Lord could be felt by everyone. My wife and I had a conversation about what we were going to do since we had outgrown our house. We were out riding around with my parents and drove by an abandoned chapel located 4 miles from our home. My dad told me, “there’s your church you’ve been looking for.”

We called the number on the sign in front of the building and in two days, we had the keys. Our Bible study members and I began cleaning up the building. By August 4, 2019, we had seen 9 people claim victory over death, repenting and declaring Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

We now have a new co-pastor, Steven Gurganus, his wife, and children in ministry with us. We are currently in a transition period because we have outgrown the building and we have had to wait on the Lord. But we know and we stand on God’s Word that He is able to give us more than we could ask or even think.
